This 2min episode is a reading from the 8th Book of Psalms, a Psalm of David. THE SON OF MAN: The N.T. quotes these verses from the Septuagint (the Greek translation of the Hebrew O.T.) and applies them to Jesus (Heb. 2:6-8; cf. Eph. 1:19-22). It is only in Him that these truths are perfectly realized. He is the One who, as a representative of the human race, will be given the full dominion over all creation.

PENTECOST: GETTING EQUIPPED
Summary
This 15m episode discuss the Scripture text surrounding Pentecost. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit—the pouring out of God’s Spirit to fill and indwell people—was prophesied in the Old Testament and fulfilled at Pentecost (Acts 2). This event was predicted in the Old Testament: in Isaiah 44:3 God said to Israel, “I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” The Holy Spirit is pictured as the “water of life” that saves and blesses a dying people. On the day of Pentecost, Peter quoted another prophecy as being fulfilled: “I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. . . . And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Joel 2:28–29, 32).
It’s time now to get equipped for the trip!

THE POWERFUL PRAYER OF JABEZ
Summary
This 5m episode is regarding the Powerful Prayer that was prayed by Jabez. The prayer of Jabez is found in a historical note within a genealogy: “Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, ‘I gave birth to him in pain.’ Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, ‘Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory!
The prayer of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:10 contains an urgent request for four things: 1) God’s blessing. Jabez acknowledges that the God of Israel is the source of all blessing, and he asks God for His grace. No doubt, this request was based, at least in part, on God’s promise of blessing to Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 22:17).
2) An expansion of territory. Jabez prays for victory and prosperity in all his endeavors and that his life would be marked by increase.
3) The presence of God’s hand. This was Jabez’s way of asking for the guidance of God and His strength to be evident in his daily existence.
4) Protection from harm. Jesus taught His disciples to pray in this way: “Father in heaven . . . deliver us from the evil one” (Matthew 6:9, 13). Jabez looks to God in confidence as his defender.
Jabez’s goal in his prayer was to live free from sorrow, and the last thing we read about him is that God heard and answered his prayer. Like Solomon’s humble prayer for wisdom (1 Kings 3:5–14), Jabez’s devout prayer for blessing was answered. The success Jabez enjoyed outweighed the sorrow of his beginning. The prayer of Jabez overcame the name of Jabez!

THE SAMARITAN
Summary
This 8m episode provides the listener with the reading of The Parable of the Good Samaritan which is precipitated by and in answer to a question posed to Jesus by a lawyer. In this case the lawyer would have been an expert in the Mosaic Law and not a court lawyer of today. The lawyer’s question was, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 10:25). This question provided Jesus with an opportunity to define what His disciples’ relationship should be to their neighbors.
Jesus answers the question using what is called the Socratic method; i.e., answering a question with a question: “He said to him, ‘What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?’” (Luke 10:26). By referring to the Law, Jesus is directing the man to an authority they both would accept as truth, the Old Testament. In essence, He is asking the scribe, what does Scripture say about this and how does he interpret it? Jesus thus avoids an argument and puts Himself in the position of evaluating the scribe’s answer instead of the scribe evaluating His answer. This directs the discussion towards Jesus’ intended lesson.
Take a listen to hear the conclusion of the whole matter.

THE PARABLE OF SOILS, which soil are ye planted in?
Summary
This 13m episode provides you the listener the reading of scripture from the parable of the Sower. Everybody lives by faith in something or someone. The difference between the Christian believer and the unsaved person is not that one has faith, and the other does not. They both have faith. The difference is in the object of their faith, for faith is only as good as the object. The Christian believer has put his faith in Jesus Christ, and he bases that faith on the Word of God.
In Christ’s interpretation of this parable, He explicitly affirms the possibility of a person “believing” (i.e., making a sincere beginning in the life of faith), but subsequently falling away because of a failure to resist temptation. In contrast are those who, “having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit” with perseverance. Therefore, I ask of you the listener, which soil are you planted in? The hard soil, the shallow soil, the crowded soil, or the good soil?
Blessings,
Elder Barbara

JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!
Summary
This 3m episode demonstrates why we sing unto the LORD with our hearts filled with praise. Mother Daley once again reminds us in song of the JOY in knowing that her LORD and Savior, Jesus is coming again. Psalm 95:2 reminds us; “Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him”. A psalm is a song intended to be sung with musical instruments. However, what a wonder when your voice provides all the music one needs to express the joy felt within. Especially, the joy of knowing Jesus is coming again!
