DON’T BE ENVIOUS!

Ex. 20:17

Thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor’s.

THOU SHALT NOT COVET: Coveting involves the desire or lust for all that is wrong or belongs to another person.

Paul claims this commandment reveals the depth of human sinfulness, Rom. 7:7—13. This law, as well as the others, exposes the depravity of men and women and calls for them to seek grace and moral power from God.

Focus on the blessings God gives you, not those of your neighbors. Trust and believe your gift has your name on it, God does not make mistakes.

“Mr. Smith brought his family, a new house. Here’s what you should say, hooray for the Smiths!”

Envy, it does not look good on you!

BEHAVE LIKE A CHRISTIAN

Behaving like a Christian means showing love, kindness, and genuine affection. Having diligence, fervent Spirit, and serving the LORD with all your heart, and mind.

Rejoicing in hope, patience in tribulation, and steadfast in prayer.

We are rejoicing and weeping with others, being of the same mindset of the teachings as Christ.

We are leaving revenge to God and overcoming evil with good.

We are showing generosity, hospitality, and blessing persecutors. Why? Because we were made in His image, we should be more like Him than they were.

Blessings,

Elder Hayes

KEEP PRAYING ABOUT IT

“You do not have because you do not ask God.” Jas. 4:2 NIV

The Bible in the Book of James mentions the most common problems in prayer: not asking, asking for the wrong things, asking for the wrong reasons, or just the plain failure to keep praying about it.

You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your lust goes unfulfilled; so you murder. You are envious and cannot obtain [the object of your envy]; so you fight and battle. You do not have because you do not ask [it of God]. You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires.

Do you talk to God at all? and when you do it is to ask for something. Do you ask to satisfy your own desires? Do you seek God’s approval for what you already plan to do? Your prayers will become powerful when you allow God to change your desires so that they perfectly correspond to His will for you (1 John 3:21, 22).

Trust and believe in God for all things. If your request is His Will for you, He will bless you. God knows what we need even before we ask of Him. Never fail to forget the goodness of God and His mercies toward those who trust and believe in Him.

Don’t give up or give in, keep praying about it and the LORD will answer one way or another.

Blessings,

REBUILD YOUR MARRIAGE

1 PETER 3:7

Peter mentions three things husbands must be concerned about concerning their wives.

  • They must be considerate and understanding, living with their wives in love and harmony with God’s Word (Eph. 5:25—33; Col. 3:19).
  • They must show respect to them as equal heirs of the grace of God and salvation.  This requires that wives be honored, provided for, helped, and protected according to their needs.  “Weaker” probably refers to the woman’s physical strength.  A husband must praise and highly treasure his wife as she endeavors to love and help him according to God’s will.
  • They must be concerned about their wives’ unjust and improper treatment.  Peter indicates that a husband who fails to live with his wife in an understanding way and to give her honor as a fellow child of God will damage his relationship with God by creating a barrier between his prayers and God (Col. 3:19).

I HAVE PREPARED FOR YOU

MY FATHER’S HOUSE. This phrase refers to heaven, for Jesus must “go” there to prepare a place for us (Mat. 6:9). God has a home where there are many rooms and to which the “household of God” now on earth (Eph. 2:19) will be transferred; “here we have no continuing city” (Heb. 13:14).

As certain as Christ went to heaven, He shall return from His Father’s presence and take His followers to be with Him in heaven, to the place prepared for them. This is the hope of all believers. The ultimate purpose of the LORD’s return is that believers may forever be with Him.

THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD

EVERY DAY I WILL BLESS THEE. No day should pass without praising and thanking God for His blessings and gifts to us. He is our Maker, Redeemer, and Provider.

The LORD is Gracious. This oft-repeated refrain expresses God’s delight in showing mercy. When He sees misery, it moves His heart to compassion. He is slow to become angry at our offenses and quickly shows mercy when forgiveness is requested.

HE IS NIGH UNTO ALL THEM THAT CALL UPON HIM.

All who call upon God in truth (i.e., with a sincere and upright heart) may be assured that He is near.  He will hear their prayer, fulfill their desire for help, and work for their deliverance.

HOW GOD ANSWER OUR PRAYERS

Because you are “accepted” in Christ, you can be sure that God will answer your prayers.

The LORD spoke and announced what He would do for those of His people who truly loved Him and acknowledged Him with obedient lives.

The word here translated as “LOVE” is not usual; it means “to cling to, to cleave, to be passionate.” It is used in Deuteronomy 7:7 and 10:15 for the love Jehovah has for His people Israel (see John 14:21-24).

His blessings will be deliverance and protection, answered prayer, companionship in times of trouble, honor, satisfaction, and a long life. (Ps. 21:4; Ex. 20:12; Deut. 30:20).

DEPEND ON GOD

Paul shared this with us: “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I’m self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].”

Jesus said, “I am with you always.”

It does not matter how things are, we must trust that our LORD promised us that He would be with us, not some of the time, but all of the time.

Some rely upon horses, others upon the government or other folks. But I’ll put my trust in the One who promises to never leave me nor forsake me no matter what the situation looks like.

In God, you can depend upon Him.

TRUSTING IN GOD FOR SUPPORT

Trusting in the LORD with all our hearts is the opposite of doubting God and His Word.

Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding, says Proverbs 3:5.

Trusting in God is a conscious dependence on God, much like leaning on a tree for support. The command to acknowledge Him means to see Him and get to know Him in the process of living.

Have you ever sat and read a true-life book, where the author provides you with all the details of their walk through life? Once you’ve completed the book you know all about them. If they are trustworthy, then you would place your trust in them.

As you read the Word of God, your knowledge of Him grows. You will find that if we trust in Him and obey Him, our Father will direct our paths into the blessings He has planned for us. You would accept His guidance, knowing that no matter what rivers you must cross, He will be there to guide you safely to the other side.  You would know that He will keep you balanced as you trust in Him for your support.

Blessings,
